lyrics
Freezing cold
Absolute darkness
Cramped up in pain
Left for eternal hours
Daily intrusions
Paired with savage beatings
Recurring echo:
“You know I’m not gonna hurt you”
Hung from the roof
For several endless days
Force fed with sheer brutality
Permission to die denied
But still Condition worsened fast
To inevitable death
The corpse had to disappear
And the dogs had to be fed
Chainsaw started to whine
Shivers crawled up spines
Flesh garnished with dog food
And fed to the wretched souls
Disciplinary measures, vital
Everyone must know their place
Communication leads to plots
Screwdrivers pierce eardrums
The pit filled with water
Covered with some plywood
230 Volts
Is the last thing she felt
Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end. sachavonkarl74
The atmosphere of this album is fantastic. Makes you feel like you're knee-deep in the trenches drenched in mud, filth, sweat, and blood. Truly encapsulates the horrors of World War I, and the fact that the lyrics of some of the songs are taken from old war letters really adds to the authenticity.
Favorite Track(s): Die Feuertaufe, Grabenlieder edoerfler
Full on assault on the subject. I love everything about this album. The use of the Russian propaganda message of the Eastern front in Stalingrad, Massengrab, together with the sound of roaring Stuka's and thunderous bombs portrays the chaos of warfare better than any other black metal band I have heard so far.
Very much a recommended album. Argeodeema
This album is just 100/100, like so many albums from mgla. How can a band hit the spot so many times? They are incredible. Thank you for accompanying me almost daily these days :) adrianradillo
